Regiment | 6th Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, La Boiselle |
Entry | Drainage of trenches commenced - general cleaning up and improvement of shelters and all trenches. Enemy very busy with sausages etc. Pte Scott - "C" Coy - wounded - Cpl Broadwater - "A" Coy wounded and Pte Day - "A" Coy - wounded (slightly). The meals are cooked at an old Chateau about 1000 yards from Bn HQ - and the transport has to get at this place by a round-about route. The Regtl Aid Post is also at the Chateau. This is not satisfactory and arrangements are being made to move it up into the trenches. Our batteries, both 18 pounders and Howitzers, work well with us and put in excellent replies to the German efforts. We badly need heavy trench mortars with ammunition & large supplies of rifle grenades to successfully cope with the enemy, who would appear to have an unlimited supply. |
