War Diary

1915-08-30
Regiment 6th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Bray
Entry The enemy would appear to have damaged his own fire- trenches by the explosion of the mine last night. Our parapets etc are being repaired as rapidly as possible and a salvage party is excavating round the D for buried rifles - bombs - equipment etc. Re report that little or no damage has been done to any of our mines and that their losses are one man buried. Enemy air-machines very busy over our trenches, and the crater this morning. Our airmen too are flying over enemy's trenches. RA - RE and ourselves getting ready to meet any emergency that may arise tonight. RA shelling enemy's lines this morning. Trenches still under water - but sun shining today & this with the wind will help to dry them. Health & morale of troops excellent.
