Location France, In Trenches around Givenchy and Le Plantin
Entry At 2am received orders to arrange Rifle Grenade attack for 2.30pm. 12 parties of 3 men each under 2nd Lieut Steward and Dymore Brown told off. They had to go into the Suffolks area to fire. They fired for 20 minutes with some success. 2nd Lt Dymored Brown was wounded in the eye and Sergt Skinner suffering from Parapet being blown into his face. Enemy replied on Support Line but was soon silenced by our Artillery. Relief by 2nd South Staffords 6th Brigade 2nd Divn began at 4.30pm and finished at 8.10pm. Battalion had to march to BETHUNE (5 Miles) carrying their Fur Coats and Steel Helmets. Men very tired. Battalion all in billets by 11.30pm near the Railway Station. 1 Officer and 4 men wounded.
