War Diary

1918-01-08
Regiment 2/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Curchy
Entry The Battalion remained in CURCHY and ETALON. Orders were received during the day for the Battalion to move to the BEAUVOIS area on the 9th Inst. Another fairly heavy fall of snow necessitated the sending out of parties to keep the road clear. In the evening the Adjutant and Intelligence Officer visited the route for tomorrow and went as far as MESNIL but found the road to MESNIL ST NICAISE via MESNIL LE PETIT blocked by snow in such quantities that it was impractical to march that way. The route via NESLE was consequently selected. Battalion routine Orders Part 11 were published. During the night orders were received that the Battalion would move to UGNY L'EQUIPEE and an operation order and Administrative Instructions to this effect were issued at 3.15am.
