Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

War Diary

1917-12-31
Regiment 2/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Cappy
Entry The Battalion started from CAPPY at 9.35am and marched via FROSSY-PROYART-FRAMERVILLE and VAUVILLERS to ROSIERES arriving at 1.30pm. The road was in bad condition for marching being covered with a thin hard layer of frozen snow. The Battalion was billeted in the Northern part of the village at 2/5 GLOSTERS being in the Southern half. Accommodation was plentiful and the billets capable of being made quite comfortable. One man fell out on the march having broken his leg by a fall!
