Regiment 2/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Front Line
Entry FRONT LINE VILLERS-PLOUICH AREA. Weather still fine and frosty but the health and spirits of the Battalion were excellent. Everything still quiet but enemy aeroplanes rather more active, the derelict Canvas Camp at the mouth of FARM RAVINE being bombed by them. During the morning NO 202415 Pte Scriven A of "A" Coy was killed by a Sniper. At 4.30pm a small party of the enemy was dispersed by rifle fire. Two were observed to be hit. At 12 midnight some 300 of the Germans approached the wire running round the sap occupied by "D" Coy but they immediately withdrew when fired upon.
