| Entry | CHEMICAL WORKS SECTOR ARRAS. 182 Brigade on our immediate left raided enemy at 2am. Our trenches shelled in consequence. An artillery bombardment of enemy trenches on our immediate front was carried out from 10.30am to 1.40pm and drew much counter shelling from the enemy. In the afternoon a store of smoke bombs ready for next days smoke discharge was exploded by enemy fire and "C" strong point destroyed. The smoke thus liberated alarmed enemy and our trenches were heavily shelled. 2/4th Oxford and Bucks LI (our Brigade) raided enemy at 11pm. |
