Entry 2 Platoons of each Company engaged on construction of strong tactical points on W bank of R. SOMME E of MORCHAIN from 9am till 2pm. Remaining 2 platoons of each Coy working as second shift. Capt C R Allen (Manchester Regt attchd) took over command of "B" Coy in temporary absence of Lt Heywood. 2/Lieut J S Darby assumed duties of Acting Adjutant vice Capt C R Allen. 2/Lieut G W de St Legier Devon Regt took over duties as Scout and Intelligence Officer vice 2/Lieut J S Darby.
