Entry Orders received to retire. Retirement effected without loss owing to scattered positions of trenches. Ammunition 80,000 rounds, and supplies had to be abandoned. 1/KRR Rifles and 1/R Berks Regt passed through 1/Kings (L'Pool) Regt and 2/S Staffs Regt and took up positions at IHY, eventually withdrawing to bivouac 1/2 mile E of BAVAI, arriving about 6pm. Notes. 80,000 rounds. This ammunition had been sent up during night by G.O.C 6th Bde who ordered that vehicles should at once return. Consequently no means of removal as all ranks were already carrying 300 rounds per man. On arrival at bivouac orders received to dispatch one Company to protection duty. Orders received for Battalion to stand to arms at 3am and move at 4am.
