Regiment 4th Wiltshire
Location Germany
Entry After approx 45 mins delay in the start time, once more owing to road conditions, the attack on STRAETEN was very successful. Coy moved into battle in Kangaroos, and were supported by tanks of No 2 sqn Gren Gds, and 'Crocodiles' (Churchill flame throwers) which were very demoralising to the enemy, who surrendered in most cases with out fighting. Total PW taken were approx 200 incl Comd Offr, Adj, and 2 Coy Comds. Our own casualties were 30 including Capt K.G. Sanderson killed, and Lt. B.E. Tune wounded, much enemy equipment was captured including a 7.5 cm Inf gun intact, and ration wagon which came into the village after dark, the four Germans with it not knowing the attack had taken place.
