The whole of the Bn was in TANGERMUNDE less "D" Coy, who were at STORKAU (8854) and S Coy who were at TANGERHUTTE (7633). The 5 H.L.I. remained in TANGERMUNDE until the 12 June 45, and before leaving handed over all their G.1098 to us. The whole of 52 (LOWLAND) DIV was leaving GERMANY and moving to a conc area somewhere in BELGIUM. The situation at TANGERMUNDE was different from what we had experienced before. At TANGERMUNDE we were right on the border with the Russian Occupation Zone, and the two forces were only separated by the width of the ELBE. One of the duties of the Bn was to provide Guards on the bridges and ferry's over which the exchange of D.P's and P.W (X) took place. Besides this duty, the battalion was responsible within its alloted area for the maintenance of law and order enforcement of the curfew, searches for hidden arms, and the arrest of all members of the German Parties or persons in the arrest categories of the Nazi Party or its affiliated organisations.
