Entry 0930: This June the Third was the first anniversary of Sgt ROGERS DAY and was commemorated as follows. A Church Service was held in remembrance of Sgt ROGERS V.C. MM and all ranks of the Bn who were killed in action, died of wounds received in action, or died on active service. During the Service the citation for SGT ROGERS' V.C. was read out and also the names of all members of the Bn who were killed or died on active service. There were 221 names on this Roll of Honour. The reading of the citation and the Roll of Honour was followed by the sounding of the Last Post and Reveille. After the Service the Bn formed up in line, and the Drums followed by the Carrier Pl, in both of which the late Sgt ROGERS V.C. M.M. once served, marched past the front ranks of the Bn. In the evening a toast to the memory of SGT ROGERS was drunk in the Officer's Mess.
