Entry | 0745: All available mortor-cyclists [sic] in the battalion left to take part in a Div M/C RALLy [as diary]. The object of this rally was to speed up the running in of machines and to test the riders map reading. 1400: The Regimental Band which was on a tour of the L of C areas of 21 Army Gp paid a viit to the Battalion. This was the first time that the Band had been with the Battalion since the outbreak of war. In the afternoon the Band conducted by B.M. DALRYMPLE, played for two hours in the SQUARE for the benefit of the inhabitants of LOKEREN 3784. The programme was warmly received and the Bandmaster was presented with a bouquet on behalf of the Burgomaster. 1900: The Regimental Band and the Drums of the Battalion beat Retreat together in the SQUARE, a spectacle which was watched with great enthusiasm by the civilians, as well as members of the battalion. This performance was also watched by BRIGADIER W.H. LAMBERT C.B.E. 2030: To finish off the day the Band gave a concert in the local cinema. Reference to Appendices: J/1 |
