Entry | 1100: The Advance party aboard U.S.N. GENERAL S. BLACK disembarked at MARSEILLES and moved to a transit camp about 18 miles NORTH of the town. This camp had been specially built to receive units of the CDN CORPS and 5 BRIT DIV who were moving from C.M.F. all ranks were confined to camp. Meanwhile back at SALERNO the battalion, now comd by Major A.W.S. Hooley in the temporary absence of LT. COL. E.A. HEFFORD D.S.O. was waiting order to move. The massed Drums and pipes of the Brigade played on the football pitch. |
