Regiment 2nd Wiltshire
Location Camp 524 Gaza, Palestine
Entry [19 - 20th] First leave party consisting of 2 O.R's went on 28 days leave to UK under scheme LIAP. This scheme entitled personnel who had been abroad over 3 years, but were not yet due to be repatriated under scheme "PYTHON" to go home on leave, and therefore it did not affect any of the original members of the Bn that came abroad, but only some of the ex-R.A. rfts. "A" Coy held their inter-sec shooting competition. The object of these competitions which were held by all Coys was to make shooting more interesting and to find the best shooting secs in each Coy. The best secs of each Coy then fired against each other to decide the best secs in the Bn. A Bn Boxing Tournament was held in the afternoons of the 19th and 20th in the local Camp Cinema. Each Coy entered a team of boxers of all weights, and the competition was run on the knock-out principle. A cup was presented to the winning Coy - 'S' Coy - by the Commanding Officer who also presented medals to each winning boxer and also to the runners up. Enthusiasm and sportsmanship was displayed by both boxers and spectators. "B" Coy Sec Shooting competition [20th]. Reference to Appendices: APPENDIX "B"
