Entry [War diary for this month commences with the following brief precis of the month's activities] This was a month of surprises. After the cancellation of the previous move, everyone was convinced that the Div would remain in PALESTINE until the early Spring at least. However, this was not the case as the Bn received a Warning Order to move early in the month. The Trg during the month was not intensive, but sufficiently so to keep all ranks up to standard, especially in shooting. It was made more interesting by the organisation of competitions within the Bde, and also within the Bn. An inter-sec shooting competition and a Pl Drill competition were organised within the Bn, and a "S.B" competition; a Pnr Pl exercise, and an Int Sec exercise were organised by Bde. Sport also played a prominent part in the activities of the Bn. Four short Adm Courses for Jnr NCO's were run by the 2 i/c during the month. W.T. Course No 1 begins. This was the first of a series of short courses run by the W.T.O., the subject of which was to improve the standard of coaching by Jnr Offrs and NCO's, and by so doing to improve the standard of shooting. The Commanding Officer was convinced that one reason for the slow improvement in shooting was directly due to bad coaching. Reference to Appendices: REF MAP PALESTINE 1:100,000 GAZA
