War Diary

1944-10-21
Regiment 2nd Wiltshire
Location Khassa, Palestine
Entry The new Brigadier addressed the whole battalion. He said that he felt honoured to be given the command of 13 I.B. which had won such a great name for itself, and he was confident that it would do well again in future battles. He also described some of the recent fighting in ITALY, which he had just left. The rest of the month passed without noteworthy incidents. The 4 Platoons who represented the battalion in the brigade "Skill at Arms" competition failed to secure a place in the brigade team to take part in the divisional final, although their times were good. [Signed] E.A. Hefford Lieut-Colonel Commanding, 2nd Bn. The Wiltshire Regiment.
