Entry | During the day there was an increase in mortar fire on the fwd coys and 'C' coy had 2 casualties both wounded. After dark C & D Coys sent out parties to do more wiring and mining and improve existing defences, in preparation for German counter-attack on our front, when other troops broke out of the beachead. 2200hrs: Sergeant STRICKLAND 'D' Coy took recce patrol to observe known enemy positions and report on activities. He saw 3 German Working Parties. The patrol returned complete, but 1 man was wounded, by treading on a pencil mine when coming through the gap in our minefield. |
