Location Anzio, Italy
Entry 0010: Coy in posn without incident. Morning passed quietly. 1230: Guns began to harrass our posns and approaches to them. 1530 - 1600: Fwd Coys came under heavy and accurate mortar fire, and left fwd Coy reported enemy movement and firing of White verey lights. Int. Cpl killed whilst taking bearings on enemy guns and mortars. Our mortars were not inactive during this period, each mortar firing 95 rds.
