Entry | 0430: Relief complete. The relief was not without incident. The debussing pt was hit by 6 shells which were presumed to be harassing fire. Several casualties were suffered by 'B' Coy crossing open ground towards their posn. Intermittent mortar fire around all Coys and Bn HQ where 'I' Sgt and a signaller were wounded. 1200: Total casualties suffered in this area, commonly known as "THE FORTRESS" to date are 2 killed and 16 wounded. 1500: Lieut J.K.O. BLACK killed by enemy mortar fire. |
