Entry | Six more TELLERMINES were picked up, three in the stream about 489613 and three more about 100x away up the right bank. No tripwires were found on these and they were laid in places where no vehicle could possibly reach. The only conclusion we can draw is that they were set in an Anti-personnel role by using a weak shear pin. Two of the six were booby trapped, but the detonators were inserted open end first, indicating either sabotage or bad training. The dates of manufacture of the mines were July and August 43, the most recent being 8 Aug 43 and civilians said that the mines had been laid about two months. Another interesting piece of information volunteered by the civilians was that many TELLERMINES had been laid in the bed of the R.TRIGNO at all suitable crossings in the area, but they were all detonated by the weight of the water when the floods came. |
