Entry | 0830hrs: Short route march by Coys. A civilian reported that there were mines across the track and in the stream at about 490016. These were investigated by our pioneers and the new detectors proved a success. The mines found were TELLERMINE Mark II and were laid in an anti personnel role by attaching about 25ft of tripwire to a pull igniter in one of the booby trap recesses, running the wire along about a foot above ground level and tying the other end to a tree. Three of these had already been exploded by animals and civilians and the pioneers removed two more. The minefield was laid about fifty yards in front of some weapon pits higher up the slope and the trip wires covered the best approach to the positions. |
