Entry | Bn moved to CASTELROMANO 1635hrs to relieve 2 INNISKS who came back to ISERNIA. Its role was to cover 5 Div L of C from a flank attack, the chief danger being enemy infiltration through the gap between 2 CAMERONIANS now at CERRO and CASTEL S. VINCENZO 0539 and 504 U.S. Para Regt at ROCCHETTA 0536. This was done by est O/Ps at 159360 150345 and 143347 and sending a daily patrol out to Pt. 961 (111382). By night the RIVER VANDRA was patrolled from 142366 to 132335. Battle posns were prepared by A Coy on the forward slopes of LA ROMANA 1635 and by D Coy on CLE ALTO 1434. These were manned by one pl each night; the remainder remaining in billets until the alarm was given. Each Coy had one sec M.Gs from B Coy 7 Cheshires under comd. B Coy were billeted at CONOCCHIA 1735 and rehearsed a counter-attack onto AGROPOLI (1333), HQ Coy in CUTONI 1634 and C Coy were left in reserve in ISERNIA. |
