| Entry | 1125hrs. D Coy move fwd to NICCOLO in 9594. In afternoon 2 CAMERONIANS reach Me GORNA in 9595 without making contact with the enemy. At 1930hrs Bn moves NORTH along road TRECASTAGNE-ZAFFERANA. 2100hrs. Bn HQ is established at 971974 NORTH of FLERI. D & B Coys are in reserve immediately NORTH of Bn HQ. A Coy reaches " BUTTER" BRIDGE 971977, and leading scouts across BRIDGE come under fire from SARRO about 2000hrs. A Coy halts for night SOUTH of "BUTTER". Patrols sent fwd during night by A Coy fail to make contact, largely owing to to extrememly difficult going off the road. C Coy move to SPUR at 9699 overlooking SARRO taking Arty O.P. with them. They are out of communication all night owing to bad interference on the wireless and the line party did not get through until the following morning. |
