A and C Coys start for ROUND HILL S.W. of PATERNO. Arty O.P. moves with them. 0945hrs. A and C Coys reach houses at foot of ROUND HILL. 0950hrs. B and D Coys move fwd. 1012hrs. C Coy fire success verey light from ROUND HILL 1015hrs. Bn HQ enters PATERNO and is established in School 793857: C Coy occupies ROUND HILL: A Coy in PATERNO with Pl at LEVEL XING 784858: D Coy area ROAD JUNC 792867: B Coy area ANNUNZIATA 795864. PATERNO has been severley damaged by our bombs and shells and there were many civilian casualties. The RAP has given all possible assistance; about 2230hrs the ADS arrived to assist. The local inhabitants gave us a great welcome and were very grateful for any help we could give them. They report several instances of GERMAN frightfulness. |
