Entry 1030hrs. D Coy send patrol strength one Pl fwd to 776833 where they come under mortar and automatic fire. They lie up in this area all day and keep observation on the enemy, returning at night-fall. 1230hrs. Pl from A Coy Patrols fwd to 781857 where they are fired upon by one mortar and four automatics from general line of RLY. After making this contact the patrol withdraws. 2300hrs. Brigadier L.M. Campbell VC. DSO. TD. gives orders at Bn HQ for an attack on PATERNO the following morning. During the night 2 CAMERONIANS secure the high ground at Pts 294263 and 264 S.E. PATERNO.
