Chaung Junc occupied by D Coy Pt 444429. 1025 hrs. 16 Enemy shells .75MM calibre lands on LAUREL and HARDY. 1100 hrs.. 2 Japs seen on BUN. obviously a listening patrol. 14/1430 hrs. 30 more .75MM landed on Letwedet Chaung. 1500 hrs. Heavy shelling on HARDY continues F.O.O. (Arty) Killed. 1745 hrs. Heavy shelling continues. 1 B.O.R. killed 1 B.O.(C.O.) Lt.Col. J. HOUGHTON BROWN wounded in back and shoulders and 1 B.O.R. wounded. 2300 hrs. C Coy posn overrun by enemy. Own Casualties 1 killed, 7 Wounded. Enemy heard cutting bamboo until early hours of morning to carry away their dead and wounded. 1655 hrs. BARREL attacked by enemy who were driven off with fairly heavy losses Own killed 1.
