Entry 1100 hrs. Pl on eastern slopes of BUN, now consolidating. Own Secs probing enemy posns to get information. 1130 hrs. Tac H.Q. moves to LAUREL. Supp Coy occupies LAUREL from Carrs. C Coy moves to OCTOPUS. 1430 hrs. HARDY again being shelled. 1500 hrs. Patrol reported flash of Mor observed Pt 440482 which appeared to firing North. R.A. ordered to obliterate. 1530 hrs. LAUREL again subjected to heavy Mortar fire which was extremely accurate. Casualties 1 killed, 4 Wounded. 1600 hrs. D coy occupy BUN. Moved up and pin-pointed enemy bunkers and L.M.Gs at Pt 440426. Coy engaged, but Capt. T.R. CANNING (coy Comd) was killed and 2/Lt A.A. MORTON missing believed wounded.
