Entry 0730 hrs. Arty after heavy shelling of BUN commences firing again and will cease at 1110 hrs. 1130 hrs. 3 Enemy shells landed on LAUREL (was CAMEL). Casualties Pte Hughes (Carr) killed. 1100 hrs. A Coy patrol left for KAGYABET CH to "feel" enemy posns. 1130 hrs. Patrol returns. Met Jiffs and Japs at 452419. Jiffs wearing English B.D. and helmets. Patrol engaged killing one enemy. Enemy retaliated with Brens wounding 2 O Rs. No organised defence. 1600 hrs. HARDY (under intense shelling). appear shells fired from Ch to the West no casualties. 1635 hrs. Snipers under Cpl Hamilton observed movement of Japs on LEAF. Opened fire killing one enemy, body was observed to be carried away.
