Entry 0415 hrs. One pl D Coy under Comd Lieut S. AFFLECK left for NAUBATPUR 10 miles SOUTH of DINAPORE accompanied by SDM. Report from NAUBATPUR stated large crowd surrounded and burnt out police station. Police opened fire. 1200 hrs. Information received serious looting and large mob at BIHTA. Military patrol train despatched from KHAGAUL at 1315 hrs. with one coy Y & L. 1210 hrs. Pl D Coy return from NAUBATPUR. Rd blocked 5 miles North of NAUBATPUR and pl. proceeded on foot. Police sta damaged and police cut about. 74 casualties inflicted by police. Six arrests made. 1245 hrs. Guard placed on Supply Depot as ordered by Comd HQ L of C area. 1845 hrs. Two patrol trains not yet returned to DINAPORE. 1900 hrs. SDM reports mob collecting NAUBATPUR 3 hours after tps departed. DINAPORE fairly quiet. Asked for guard on jail which was supplied.
