Entry | 6pm Weather fine. Cold. Strength. 23 Officers 717 OR. Detached 10 Officers 92 OR. 1 OR rejoined from detachment. 2 OR to Hospital. Rev H.J. KENYON CF attached for duty as Chaplain. Observation. 1605 four men left CEMETRY WOOD and proceeding N.W. entered shrubbery 250 [degrees] S.E. of DURBALI. 1645 smoke seen rising from AKINDZALI. 2130 one very light sent up in vicinity of HODZA REDOUBT. At 1540 two men went from DURBALI into LONGWOOD and thence into river bed 300 [degrees] W of BREST BRIDGE where they stayed for 15 minutes and then went into CEMETRY WOOD. At 1555 one man went from CEMETRY WOOD to the same place in the river bed, but was not seen to leave again. Patrols. A patrol consisting of 2nd Lt W.J. WALKER and 6 OR patrolled BREST CLUMP and BREST reaching BREST at 1025. No signs of recent occupation were seen though a thorough reconnaissance of the village was made. |
