Entry Midnight. Weather fine. Strength. 25 Officers 771 OR. Detached 8 Officers 105 OR. 5 OR to Hospital, 2nd Lt SHERWOOD and 2 OR rejoined from Course of Instruction. CAPT A.C. LONGLAND and 1 OR rejoined from Course of Instruction. 2nd Lt F HARDY and 2 OR to No 3 B.D. for Course in Physical Training. 2nd Lt H.L. WESTLAKE and 1 OR to 12th Corps, School of Instruction. Patrols. CAPT DIXON and 12 OR left our lines at 0700 for BREST CLUMP. The ground on the N.E. and E side of BREST was reconnoitred. One rifle was found in the CLUMP. It was ascertained that it would be possible to command the retirement of troops from BREST from a point on the N.E. side of the village.
