Entry Midnight. Weather fine. Strength. 24 Officers 913 OR. Detached 8 Officers 76 OR. 1 OR struck off. Night 31st July/1st Aug the Battalion relieved 8th D.C.L.I. in Sectors H24 (MAMELON VERT) to AI 16, 3 Companies in the line, one in reserve. Operation Order No 32 attached. Observation. At 1010 hours a blue flag was seen flying on BOYAU HILL. At 1230 hours two men were seen to approach this flag, they then returned to trenches on BOYAU HILL. A work has been constructed on the S.E slope of TRAPEZE DE ST of AKOVO which appears to be either a M.G emplacement or an O.P. Shelling. At 0930 2 shrapnel and HE was fired at O.P. on WAGON HILL.
