Entry 6pm. Weather fine. Strength. 23 Officers 892 OR. Detached 5 Officers 74 OR. 4 OR struck off. B Coy. 17037 L/Sgt FIELD H., Pte 14980 ATTWELL F.N., 33297 Pte KENT J.E.. Wounded 15.6.17 Observation. Night. At 0115 hours the patrol from left Coy which patrols wire from L6 to AL4 was attacked by a party of the enemy about 30 strong. This party was armed with knives and pistols and had cut a gap in the wire and come through, about 100 yards from AL4. Sgt and 2 of the 3 men on patrol were wounded but gave the alarm to AL4 and a M.G. opened. The party then retired through the gap and were pursued with MG fire. The enemy's tracks lead to the left of STONY HILL. At the same time patrol from Centre Coy heard another party in front of them between PETIT PITON and DOUBLE HILL. Observation. Day. Enemy registered during morning on their front line from MACHINE GUN HILL to the NOSE.
