Entry | 6 pm. Weather. Very cold, snow in morning. Strength. 27 Officers 887 OR. Detached 12 Officers 105 OR. 1 OR rejoined from Course of Instruction, 1 OR killed (25568 Pte HARRIS W, A Coy). Observation. Night. Sector lightly shelled during night. Day. From 0800 enemy bombarded our whole sector intermittently throughout the day, at times shelling developed to intense bombardment and up to 1600 over 1500 HE and shrapnel were sent over. Casualties 1 OR killed in left sector, damage done to dugout in B2, 2 bays in S.T. B4 and damage to C.T. B4. Slight damage to wire No 5 LG emplacement slightly damaged. In afternoon 11 HE and shrapnel on Transport Lines, 4 mules killed. BASING HILL and DOIRAN ROAD also shelled during afternoon. B16 and C sector were also heavily bombarded throughout the day. |
