Entry 6 pm. Weather wet, drizzling rain all day. Strength. 27 Officers 890 OR. Detached 12 Officers 108 OR. 2 OR joined from Base, 1 OR to Hospital, 1 OR to detachment. Observation. Night. 3 white and 5 red flares alternatively seen at 2100 on right side of top of GRAND COURONNE. 2245 artillery dispersed working party on O2 reported by our patrol. 2315 white light seen at foot of PETIT COURONNE at intervals for 10 minutes, probably a torch. Day. 50 HE and Shrapnel on B2/4 and 38 on B6/8 between 1130 and 1530. Firebay and two drains blown in. Between 1130 and 1200 enemy sent 5 5.9 HE onto new path from BASING HILL, 2 duds. A small screen has been put up on the N slope of PETIT COURONNE. What appears to be a new M.G. emplacement in being made on the top of the right slope of O1. A herd of about 70 cattle were grazing during the morning on the edge of the lake, about 600 N.E. of the road. Six men were seen on the road at the end of the lake at 1100, three of whom landed from a boat.
