Entry 6 pm. Weather fine and sunny. Strength. 28 Officers 933 OR Detached 14 Officers 82 OR. 19 OR joined, 1 OR killed (33091 A/Cpl ANDERSON A), 1 OR rejoined from Hospital, 1 OR wounded (32049 Pte MOULD F). Observation. Night. A demonstration on O1 and O2 was made from B2 and B8 sectors with rifle and MG fire between 1920 and 1935 hours. White Verry lights were sent up as soon as rifle firing began and lasted until sometime after demonstration had ceased. One red light was sent up from trenches at foot of PETIT COURONNE at 1922 and appeared to produce barrage from field guns right of PITON NOIR in front of B8 and B10, this barrage was shortened at 1930 to ground in front of O2 wire. Enemy also put barrage into PATTE D'OIE RAVINE. No enemy machine guns opened fire during demonstration. Enemy replied from O1 with rifle fire but not from O2. A searchlight from PITON NOIR direction opened after demonstration had ceased. Small parties of enemy between 2330 and 0230 moving about in front of their wire were fired on by Vickers gun. Day. Field guns below SWINDON CAMP continued wire cutting on PETIT COURONNE, firing in all about 1000 rounds. In morning medium trench mortar fired 24 rounds from ravine in front of DOIRAN ROAD CAMP on to enemy works on extreme right of O1 and destroyed a dug out. Lewis Gun was in action on lake shore but no one was seen to emerge. Three enemy aircraft active at midday. Between 0915 and 1530 24 HE from Howitzer were distributed over sector, 15 shrapnel on B/2/4 between 1020 and 1530.
