Strength. 17 Officers 910 OR Detached 16 Officers 96 OR. 2 OR rejoined from Pigeon Course 1 OR rejoined from Hospital 1 Officer (Lieut E H HAYWARD) and 8 OR to England on leave, 2 OR struck off strength, 1 OR joined. Observation. Night. Our artillery heavily bombarded PETIT COURONNE between 1830 and 1930 hours, supporting raid on P5 by 9th GLOUCESTERS. Enemy retaliated with about 30 shells, mostly shrapnel, on our front line. GLOUCESTERS succeeded in entering enemy trenches on P5, found them unoccupied by the enemy, and returned to their own lines without casualties. The DOIRAN ROAD patrol found a boat driven ashore near DOIRAN STATION. She was full of gravel. Patrol cleaned out boat, sailed her along and hid her in reeds by BASING HILL. Day. All quiet. Pte PENN F of 'D' Coy tried by Court Martial at 8th DCLI HQ's on charge of shooting himself through the hand by neglect. He was sentenced to 1 months FP No 1, the sentence being confirmed. |
