Strength. 29 Officers 920 OR Detached 14 Officers 100 OR. 2 OR struck off Strength 2 OR to Hospital, 1 OR to detachment. 12415 L.Cpl FREEGARD A (A Coy) died from wounds received in raid of 23rd/24th Dec at No 4 Canadian General Hospital 19.1.17 Observation. Night. Enemy shelled road and second line with HE and mountain gun between 2030 and 0300. Enemy working parties active on O1 and O2 but were dispersed by our artillery. Day. Sniper active at 0645 in advanced trench in O2. Enemy artillery quiet throughout day. Memo. With reference to the raid carried out by the battalion on night of 23/24 Dec, the Lieut General C in C expressed his appreciation of the care with which the orders were drafted, and of the manner in which the operations were carried out.
