Entry | 6 pm. Weather fine. Strength. 30 Officers 931 OR Detached 13 Officers 97 OR. 1 OR wounded (Pte GROUNDS 'D' Coy) 3 OR to Hospital 10 OR rejoined from Leave. Observation, Night. Enemy wiring party heard on O2 at 0115 and were dispersed by our artillery. Working parties heard in houses in DOIRAN between 2400 and 0210. At 0400 4 HE shells burst amongst our wiring party (which was working in front of B4 sector while moon was up) and 3 more shells at 0410 followed by a White Verry Light. Pte GROUNDS received a flesh wound in leg. Day. 10 HE shells (4.2) between 0830 and 0930 on B4, apparently a registration of our front line. Between 1200 and 1215 enemy fired 4 HE shells with peculiar burst, size unknown, from gun not howitzer and very close to our right flank, possibly a trench mortar. Lake Group report hammering of iron in last two detached houses of DOIRAN. |
