War Diary

1915-01-14
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, FESTUBERT
Entry A quiet day. Relieved by 1st Battn HLI at 5.30pm. Marched to billets at LES CHOQUAUX in Corps Reserve. Early this morning L/C Bacchus, who was with his section in a breastwork on left of our line, heard the enemy putting up wire entanglements about 100 yards in front. He lined up his section, and having fired a Very Pistol, which discovered 20 odd Germans, opened fire. Eight bodies were left lying out when it was light. A good bag! 2/L C W Green went sick.
