Entry At 1 pm "D" Coy were withdrawn from the posts to take up position to cover the right flank of the Battalion. About this time the general visited us & explained the situation which was still a little obscure. The night was very quiet & nothing of unusual importance occurred. The following day was very quiet & we had orders to push forward of enemy retreats. The air was full of rumours but nothing of special interest occurred. At 7 pm BM 46 (marked "W") was received giving details of relief of the Battalion by the 2nd HLI. This confirmed a phone message previously sent by the General GB6 (marked "X") was then issued to Companies giving details of relief. Relief was carried out without casualties and was complete at about 1.15 am. Battalion proceeded to trenches behind Nine Wood in L9 c & d with Batt HQ at L9 c2.2 & was settled in at 3 am The following decorations have been granted for the operations which took place between the 21st and 24th August.
