Entry Battalion took part in the attack and capture by 2nd Army of the MESSINES-WYCHAETE RIDGE. The Battalion was the right front Battalion of the Right Brigade of left Divisions of IX Corps. At zero hour 3.10a.m 3 mines were exploded on the HOLLANDE Salient on immediate front of Battalion. The objective of the Battalion was the capture of the HOLLANDE Salient in immediate front of the Battalion. The S.E. portion of GRANDE BOIS and consolidation of Red Line. This was successfully carried out. 5 Machine guns, 3 Trench Mortars and 179 Prisoners being captured and 80 of the enemy being killed during the advance. On the capture of further objectives Battalion moved forward to Green Line in Support. Consolidation proceeded with and strong points established. Remarks MAP SHEET 28 S.W.
