Regiment 6th Wiltshire
Location France, In the Trenches
Entry Headquarters were again heavily shelled but fortunately there were no Casualties. Battalion was relieved by 9th Welch in the evening and went back to billets at KINGS ROAD. A party of 100 men left behind to assist in wiring. Lt. Tynam sic [Tynan] and scouts also remained behind with the object of capturing a German listening post. Lt. Tynam sic [Tynan] went out between the lines and got between the German line and their listening post. When he got within a few yards of the post, he ordered the occupants to "hands up" and was met with a bomb which fortunately failed to explode. Lt. Tynam sic [Tynan] retaliated with a bomb with the result that 2 Germans were killed whilst a third ran away and walked into our lines. Remarks; MAP SHEET 36A
