Location Mesopotamia, At Tuz Khurmatli
Entry 'A' and 'D' companies relieved 'B' and 'C' companies in the defensive line. General Throughout the month the enemy remained quiet, and showed no indication to attack. L.A.M.B patrols proceeded on frequent occasions as far as TAUQ FORD driving in the TURKISH outposts covering that place. L.A.M.B Cars were accompanied on several occasions by Lewis Gun detachments from the Battalion, these occupying commanding ground enabled cars to work with flanks secured. TRAINING During the month an excellent assault course was completed and greatly assisted the Bayonet fighting exercise. A 400 yards rifle range also completed was utilised with considerable benefit. INTELLIGENCE During the month one or two minor disturbances took place in the neighbourhood. Parties of JEBBARI attacked the TALEBANI, but were beaten off in the vicinity of G 1L, whilst, friendly villages in vicinity of TAUQ CHAI were subjected to slight annoyance from hostile Arabs. Generally however, all was quiet. TUZ GARRISON Major R.I. SCORER M.C. assumed command of TUZ GARRISON vice Major H.T. SHAKESPEARE (to Lines of Communication PERSIA) on the 13th inst. The Garrison now comprised the following. 5th Battalion the Wiltshire Regiment 'B' Squadron 12th Cavalry with Machine Gun Section. 'D' Section 40th Machine Gun Company. 2 (Two) Sections 13th L.A.M.B. 1 (One) Section A/66 Brigade R.F.A. 1 (One) Section ANZAC WIRELESS 1 (One) Section 39th Field Ambulance. SICKNESS Sickness during the month showed a marked decrease, the percentage evacuated 1.4% due to the distinct decline in the hot weather and resultant rise in spirits of the troops. R. Ivor.
