War Diary

1918-05-07
Regiment 5th Wiltshire
Location Mesopotamia, at C42 D5/5
Entry Headquarters 'B' and 'D' Companies left bivouac at C42 D5/5 at 7.30a.m, heavy rain still falling and roads being almost impassable. An effort was made to get through to TAUQ but floods held up the march, and at 10.30a.m it was impossible to proceed further, owing to a flooded nullah crossing the main TAUQ ROAD at C33 D1/0 and containing 7 feet of water. Consequently a halt was made here, and the Battalion went into bivouac. Meanwhile half 'C' Company proceeded to C42 D 5/5 during morning, remaining half of 'C' company joining them about 4p.m after relief by 8th CHESHIRES.
