| Entry | A Brigade exercise was carried out to practice communication with Contact Aeroplane WEST of Camp. A Conference was held first at which all available Officers and N.C.O's attended, after which the aeroplane rose and messages were sent and received by Bde Hqrs and the four Battalions. The best method of communication was found to be the ALDIS Lamp which combined speed and accuracy with simplicity of sending and reading. The ground shutter also proved a success. Experiments tried with semaphore signalling were not very successful. |
