Entry | The Battalion less a Rear Party of 4 B.O. and 73 B.O.R. left SERAJIK at 9a.m with 1st and 2nd Line Transport and Tentage and proceeded to SUHANIYEH sic [Suhaniya] CUT (X12 C 8/1 TC 170) arriving there at 1p.m and pitching Camp. This was the point of concentration for the AIN LAILAH DETACHMENT which consisted of the following units, the whole being commanded by Lt. Col R.H. HASELDINE D.S.O. HALF SQDRN 12th CAVALRY ONE Sectn 26th MOUNTAIN BATTERY HALF COY 88th F. COY. R.E. 5th WILTSHIRE REGT 2 COYS 8th WELCH (sic) [WELSH] REGT (PIONEERS) 1 SECTION 40 MACHINE GUN COY 1 " ADV DRESSING STN 3g F.A. SURVEY PARTY DET. 13th SIG COY. The object of the detachment was to make a road fit for guns and animal transport from the plain S.W of the Jebel Hamrin to the top of the AIN LAILAH PASS, and to explore the Jebel Hamrin to the N.W. with special reference to Water Supply and tracks. During the afternoon (4.1.18) heavy rain fell accompanied by a boisterous wind. |
