Location Mesopotamia, Swindon Street Trench
Entry Quiet day, during night joined up T heads Hai and Swindon Streets. Snipers most active but trench was completed and occupied. This Trench was named Queen Trench. 2/Lt E.G.W. Collins wounded. O.R. killed 9 wounded 13. This was the last trench dug and the one from which the assault on the Turkish position was made. During the operations of digging these trenches the casualties of the Battalion were Officers Killed nil, wounded 6. O.R. Killed 17, wounded 49. The whole of this digging was carried out under trying circumstances and very difficult ground being an absolute network of Liquorice roots and when complete the Battalion was specially complimented by the Divisional and Brigade Commanders on the excellent work done. Officers N.C.O's and men alike worked with a will and the results were such that the battalion was fully justified in feeling proud of them. Corps Commander Guard of 1 Officer and 63 O.R's rejoined.
