Appendix III During the last week of the month there has been considerably increased activity among marauding Arabs and the most stringent precautions have to be taken for the security of rifles. These at night are wrapped in a waterproof sheet and laid in a shallow trench covered with earth. The men then sleep on them. By these means we have, unlike other Regiments of the Brigade, avoided the loss of a single rifle. Except that of Pte Bradshaw (alone).
